aiput.site vs GitHub Pages, Netlify and Vercel: hosting for people without GitHub

Ask around where to host a simple website, and three names come up again and again: GitHub Pages, Netlify and Vercel. All three are good products, all three have free plans, and all three can host the static site your AI agent made. They share one assumption, though: that you are a developer, or at least at home with developer tools.

This comparison is for everyone else.

GitHub Pages

Hosting from GitHub for sites stored in a GitHub repository. You create a GitHub account and a repository, upload the files through the website or with Git, and switch Pages on in the repository settings. From then on, every change goes through the repository.

Two things to know. On the free plan the repository has to be public, so the site's source files are visible to everyone. And GitHub's own rules say Pages is not meant for running an online business or a shop.

Good for: documentation, open-source projects, personal pages of people who already live on GitHub.

Netlify

A hosting platform for web projects. The easiest way in is to drag a folder onto Netlify in your browser, and the site is live. Beyond that, Netlify is built around connecting a Git repository and running a build, and it offers forms, serverless functions and more — each with its own settings and plan limits.

Good for: developers and teams, and for anyone happy to manage a Netlify account and drag folders in by hand.

Vercel

The platform from the makers of the Next.js framework. You connect a Git repository or deploy with its command-line tool, and every change gets its own preview address. It is strong for web applications, not only static sites. Its free Hobby plan is for personal, non-commercial projects: a landing page for a business needs a paid plan.

Good for: developers building web applications.

aiput.site

You sign in, choose a plan and paste one message from your dashboard into the chat with your agent. The agent publishes, and you get a link. There is no repository, no build step and no project settings. Each publication is a version you can roll back to.

What it does not do: run server-side code. It hosts static sites only.

Can't my agent use GitHub or Netlify too?

It can. An agent with access to your terminal can run Git or the Netlify and Vercel command-line tools. But you still need accounts there, the agent needs your credentials for them, and when something breaks, the error messages are written for developers.

aiput.site was built for agents from the start: one key, a handful of tools with the rules written into their descriptions, and nothing else within the agent's reach.

Which one to choose

  • You already use GitHub, or it is an open-source project: GitHub Pages.
  • You are a developer, or need functions and forms out of the box: Netlify or Vercel.
  • You are not a developer, your AI agent made the site, and you want it online without learning a platform: aiput.site.
